Ludlow Tour of Britain
James Ludlow and Son, 1885–1965
James Ludlow and Son were prolific. Their wall boxes, and the same basic design by Cole and by Eagle Range & Foundry, turned up all over Britain and Ireland. This tour moves away from the museum’s own collection to show examples still (or once) in the street.
The map pins every OpenStreetMap object tagged as a Ludlow design, plus museum photographs we can place. OSM coverage is incomplete: the Letter Box Study Group records around 450 surviving examples, and not all of those are mapped. Pins marked gone, museum, or private are not treated as live posting boxes.
We still want pictures of Stoke by Clare (Essex), Brockdish (Norfolk), Jersey Trinity, and any other Ludlow that is not here yet. Email the curator at kitmasterbloke@gmail.com .
